Garvan.
Campaign
Problem.
In the lab, most incidents can be avoided. However, scientists and academics at Garvan believed that ‘sometimes, things just happen’.
Thinking.
Broken beakers. Loose latches. Rogue robots. Most great science fiction films get kick-started by a safety incident that could easily have been avoided. It was time to show Garvan that we could make safety into a science fact.
Idea.
Make safety incidents science fiction
Execution.
We borrowed the language and art direction of vintage science-fiction b movies to display the hazards. This allowed us to highlight the danger without it becoming too intimidating to control.
Outcome.
The campaign became an immediate success. A difficult-to-engage audience embraced the concept and quickly picked up the key messages. While I don’t have the specific numbers, I do know the campaigns changed behaviour so well, that they asked us to use the concept to promote other safety risks in the future.
